De Taliban hebben een video vrijgegeven waarop is te zien hoe 16 politiemannen worden doodgeschoten. De massa-executie vond plaats in juni in het noordwesten van Pakistan.
De BBC heeft de beelden in handen gekregen van een plaatselijke politieman. De politieagenten staan op de video met de handen op de rug in een rij opgesteld. De video die de BBC bij het artikel heeft gepubliceerd bevat schokkende beelden.
Een plaatselijke Taliban-leider beschuldigt de agenten ervan “dat ze vijanden zijn van de Islam en zegt dat God ze wil straffen”.
Vervolgens wordt er met mitrailleurs op ze gevuurd en daarna krijgen ze van dichtbij nog een genadeschot om te verzekeren dat ze dood zijn.
Het gaat om agenten die in juni door de Taliban in Afghanistan werden ontvoerd vanuit het gewelddadige Pakistaanse gebied Dir.
Een woordvoerder van het Pakistaanse leger heeft tegen de BBC gezegd dat de video authentiek lijkt te zijn.
De lichamen werden gevonden door de plaatselijke bevolking toen de militanten waren vertrokken. De BBC ontving ook opnamen met een mobiele telefoon van een politieagent in Dir, die laat zien hoe de bevolking de lijken ontdekte.
Het gebied wordt regelmatig aangevallen door opstandelingen en honderden militanten trokken volgens verslagen naar de stad Shalato, in een afgelegen uithoek van Dir, dicht bij de grens met de Afghaanse provincie Kunar.
Het Pakistaanse leger denkt dat de aanval erd uitgevoerd door Pakistaanse Taliban-strijders uit Swat, die de grens waren overgestoken naar Afghanistan tijdens het offensief van het leger in Swat van twee jaar geleden.

VN schrapt 14 voormalige Taliban van sanctielijst
Een commissie van de Veiligheidsraad van de Verenigde Naties heeft vrijdag 14 voormalige aanhangers van de Taliban geschrapt van een lijst waarop mensen staan tegen wie sancties zijn ingesteld.
Dat meldt TOLO News. Onder de verwijderde namen op de lijst zijn Arsalan Rahmani Daulat, Habibullah Fawzi, Sayeedur Rahman Haqani en Faqir Mohammad. Zij maken momenteel deel uit van de Afghaanse Hoge Raad voor de Vrede.
Voor de beslissing van de VN stonden 137 Taliban op de zwarte lijst. Hun tegoeden zijn bevroren, ze mogen niet reizen en het is verboden om ze wapens te verkopen.

Taliban ontevreden met gedeeltelijke Amerikaanse terugtrekking, “alle buitenlandse troepen moeten nu weg”
De Taliban hebben de aankondiging van president Barack Obama om troepen terug te trekken als “slechts een symbolische stap” bestempeld en nemen er geen genoegen mee. Ze zeggen dat ze de strijd dag in dag uit op zullen voeren.
De Taliban zeggen verder “dat de terugtrekking geen voldoening zal geven aan de door oorlog vermoeide internationale gemeenschap of het Amerikaanse volk”, aldus een verklaring.
Woensdag verklaarde de Amerikaanse president Obama dat hij nog dit jaar 10.000 militairen terug zal trekken uit Afghanistan. Volgend jaar keren er nog eens 23.000 terug naar huis.
Het Islamitisch Emiraat Afghanistan, zoals Afghanistan heette toen de Taliban van 1996 tot in 2001 aan de macht waren, en zoals ze zich en het land nog steeds noemen, zal “de gewapende strijd dag in dag uit opvoeren”.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers this announcement which currently withdraws 10000 soldiers this year, only as a symbolic step which will never satisfy the war weary international community or the American people because it comes as America simultaneously wants to build permanent bases in Afghanistan under the title of ‘Strategic Agreement’ by forcing its stooge regime to sign and approve it while it is at the same time busying its invading forces in killing and persecuting the Afghan people in all corners of Afghanistan.
Obama and his war mongers want to deceive their nation and with this announcement, while in reality, they have no respect for their nation’s demands or wanting to bring this war and occupation to an end nor do they want to fulfill their promise. Obama’s statement about training Afghan Police and Army holds no significance because firstly, the trainers themselves have failed in passing this exam and secondly, the Afghans see them as thieves and enemies of their nation and religion. On top of this, the so called Army and Police, most of whom are drug addicts, forced out of their homes, the filth and bad people of society have been gathered for vice, given the mentality to spread vice and assigned for corruption will not reach Afghans any benefit nor will they help the Pentagon or CIA reach their ambitions.
The American nation must realize that their politicians and Army Generals are prolonging their game with them which was started a couple of years earlier. They are repeatedly giving false hopes to its nation about ending this war and claiming baselessly about victory and in this way want to extend this war as long as possible.
It must be clarified that the assertion of American leaders about making headway in Afghanistan and Obama’s proclamation of them being in a stronger position are nothing more than baseless claims and propaganda. They have not gained progress in the battle field nor can they bring forth any proofs of this progress. The increase in troop levels since last year has only increased the loss in life and equipment on their side. And in this way, the increased blind bombings of villages, genocide, persecution of people and the destruction of people’s homes and farms to protect themselves cannot be called victory or progress by any sound mind.
The American people, who have now understood many of the realities about the Afghan war, must take serious steps to stop this pointless bloodshed. The American taxpayers must realize that, like the previous ten years, their money is still being wasted on this pointless and meaningless war or is still going to the pockets of the officials in the corrupt Kabul regime. If they do not react now, they will definitely be forced to so in the future in order to release themselves from this crisis.
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan once again wants to make it clear that the solution for the Afghan crisis lies in the full withdrawal of all foreign troops immediately and until this does not happen, our armed struggle will increase from day to day. “Taliban-leider Mullah Omar gedood in Pakistan”
De Afghaanse nieuwszender TOLO meldt dat de hoogste leider van de Taliban, Mullah Muhammad Omar, twee dagen geleden in Pakistan is gedood. Het bericht is echter niet bevestigd.
De persoon die als dader werd aangewezen heeft ondertussen ontkend.
Ook de Taliban hebben de geruchten ontkend. TOLO-nieuws zegt de berichten ook nog niet bevestigd te hebben gekregen.
Omar zou zijn gedood door generaal Hamid Gul, een voormalige directeur van de Pakistaanse geheime dienst ISI.
Volgens een anonieme bron bij de Afghaanse inlichtingendienst bracht Gul hem van Quetta naar Noord-Waziristan. Gul zou hem hebben doodgeschoten.
Ondertussen heeft Hamid Gul tegen TOLOnews ontkend dat hij enig contact had met Mullah Omar, en noemt het nieuws “lachwekkend”.
Ik leef, en ik ben in Pindi. Het is volstrekte nonsens. Ik weet niet waarom men zulke geruchten verspreidt. Ik moet er smakelijk om lachen.”
Gul zei verder dat hij denkt dat Omar in Afghanistan zit.

Zabiullah Mujahed, een hoge woordvoerder van de Taliban, heeft gezegd dat Mullah Omar nog in leven is en zich in Afghanistan bevindt.
TOLO citeerde een anonieme bron van de Afghaanse veiligheidsdienst. Die zei dat Omar werd gedood toen hij op weg was van de Pakistaanse stad Quetta, in het zuidwesten van het land, naar de Pakistaanse regio Noord-Waziristan in het westelijke stammengebied.
President Karzai en de International Security Assistance Force van de NAVO in Afghanistan weten zijn dood niet te melden.

Statement of the Leadership Council of the Islamic Emirate Regarding the Inception of the Spring Operations.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful Fight in the Cause of Allah, those who fight you and do not be aggressive. Allah does not love the transgressors.( S:II V:190)
To the Muslim and Mujahid Nation of Afghanistan!
Today, our sacred Jihad against all foreign invaders in Afghanistan successfully steps up to the threshold of its tenth year, with the help of the Almighty Allah ( SwT) and your prideful Jihad and selfless sacrifices. With the approach of the spring, the Leadership Council of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan wants to declare the launching of the spring military operations christened as “Badar” to be waged against the invading Americans and their foreign Allies and internal supports.
For the purpose of success and effectiveness of the operations against the foreign invading forces and their defeated supporters, the following points must be born in mind:
1. As in the past, the Badar Operations will focus on attacks against military centers, places of gatherings, airbases, ammunition and logistical military convoys of the foreign invaders in all parts of the country.
2. Throughout the operations, the prior target of Mujahideen’s attacks must remain foreign invading forces, members of their spy networks and ( other) spies, high-ranking officials of the Kabul Puppet Administration, both military and civilian, members of the cabinet, members of the parliament, Heads of foreign and local companies working for the enemy and contractors.
3. Since members of the American espionage agencies, government officials of the Puppet Administration and enemies of the Afghan people and Jihad have ensconced themselves in the so-called Peace Council and are trying to pave the way for the prolongation of the American occupation by cashing in on the name of Jihad, religion and tribal chieftainship,; wants to prevent Mujahideen from waging Jihad against the invaders and are urging the Afghan Mujahid people to accept American slavery and surrender, therefore, members of the Council can be target of the Mujahideen attacks during the operations as, in view of their role, they are considered official members of the ranks of the enemy.
4. Strict attention must be paid to the protection and safety of civilians during the spring operations by working out a meticulous military plan. Utilizing all proven military tactics, the operations will focus on usage of advanced weapons against the air and ground forces of the invaders, tip-and-run attacks, and group offensives, city attacks, advanced explosives attacks, effective group and martyrdom seeking attacks by warrior Mujahideen.
5. The Spring Operations have been given the name of Badar in a hope that the Almighty Allah (SwT) may bestow on the Mujahideen victorious achievements versus all invading forces in Afghanistan like that which were bestowed on the believers during the historical battle of Badar in the 2nd Hijri lunar year. Some ardent diabolic chiefs of the polytheists were either killed or captured at the hands of the Mujahideen during the confrontation.
6. Before the launching of the Badar Operations, we call on all officials of the Kabul Administration, military officers, officials of the spy agency and all other employees to cut off their relations with the invaders and their supporters whatsoever, and join the Mujahideen for the cause of defense of the people and their own person.
7. All Afghan people should bear in mind to keep away from gatherings, convoys and centers of the enemy so that they will not become harmed during attacks of Mujahideen against the enemy or, as usual, the enemy may not avenge itself on them, following the operations of the Mujahideen.
8. The Spring Operations of Badar have been launched for the purpose of protecting the tenets of Islam and the religion from the claws of the invaders and salvaging the country and people from the foreign colonialism because the foreign invaders have committed unlawful aggression against the sovereignty of our country; have ignited the flames of war in the yard of our house; have destroyed orchards and houses with bombs and bulldozers; have martyred our countrymen and imprisoned them and have desecrated the holiest Divine Book of the Muslims, the Holy Quran. Therefore, the war in our country will not come to an end unless and until the foreign invading forces pull out of Afghanistan and the cause of the war are obliterated. The Islamic Emirate considers this its legitimate right and religious obligation to defend its religion and country. The Jihad of the Islamic Emirate will continue with the help of the Almighty Allah and the support of the Mujahid people until the attainment of this legitimate right.
9. The Badar Operations will begin throughout Afghanistan on May, the 1st 2011 i.e. 11 Saur Hijri solar year.

Taliban kondigen lenteoffensief aan in Afghanistan en waarschuwen burgers
De Taliban zijn van plan om zondag 1 mei hun voorjaarsoffensief te ontketenen. In een verklaring waarschuwden ze zaterdag voor een golf van aanvallen in heel Afghanistan.
De Taliban noemen hun offensief “Badar”, naar één van de grote overwinningen van de profeet Mohammed.
De opstandelingenbeweging heeft burgers geadviseerd uit de buurt te blijven van luchtmachtbases en andere legerbases, bijeenkomsten in de open lucht, militaire konvooien en Afghaanse civiele en militaire autoriteiten.
Verder waarschuwen ze weg te blijven van bedrijfsleiders van buitenlandse en plaatselijke bedrijven die “voor de vijand” werken.
Doelwit zijn, zoals gebruikelijk, opslagplaatsen voor munitie, buitenlandse troepen, Afghaanse veiligheidsdiensten, logistieke konvooien en mensen die samenwerken met de Afghaanse regering.
Waarnemers hadden al voor een lenteoffensief van de Taliban gewaarschuwd. Het is een elk jaar terugkerend patroon in de oorlog in Afghanistan.
Tijdens de winter houden de Taliban zich relatief rustig, trekken zich onder meer terug naar hun veilige havens in Pakistan, om dan vanaf het voorjaar weer actiever te worden.
Het Pentagon, het Amerikaanse ministerie van Defensie, meldde vrijdag dat de internationale coalitie vooruitgang heeft geboekt, maar dat er nog steeds een aantal moeilijkheden zijn, zoals een tekort aan militaire trainers en grenswachten.
Verder verlopen politieke ontwikkelingen in het land langzaam. Dat kan een gevaar vormen voor de vooruitgang die volgens het Pentagon de afgelopen zes maanden is geboekt.

De Afghaanse nieuwszender TOLO meldt dat de Amerikanen en NAVO-bevelhebbers successen tegen een groeiende opstand van de Taliban hebben “uitgebazuind” sinds er vorig jaar 30.000 extra VS-troepen naar Afghanistan zijn gedirigeerd.
“Washington and commanders of the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) have trumpeted successes against a growing insurgency since 30,000 extra US troops were sent to Afghanistan last year.”
Begin dit jaar meldde de VN dat het geweld ook in 2010 verder was geëscaleerd, en dat het land niet eerder zo onveilig was sinds het Taliban-bewind eind 2001 werd afgezet. Dus de veiligheidssituatie is dit jaar alleen maar verder verslechterd.
Op dit moment zijn er ruim 140.000 buitenlandse troepen van de NAVO en de Coalitie in Afghanistan gestationeerd, waaronder ongeveer 100.000 Amerikanen. Dat is een recordaantal sinds een internationale coalitie onder leiding van de VS de oorlog in Afghanistan in oktober 2001 begon.
Zelfmoordaanslagen blijven naar verwachting een belangrijk onderdeel van de Taliban-strategie. De Taliban voeren daarnaast moordaanslagen uit op regeringsfunctionarissen en leggen veelvuldig bermbommen en hinderlagen.
Waarschuwing Taliban aan burgers
“All Afghan people should bear in mind to keep away from gatherings, convoys and centres of the enemy so that they will not become harmed during attacks of Mujaheddin against the enemy.”
“Operations will focus on attacks against military centres, places of gatherings, airbases, ammunition and logistical military convoys of the foreign invaders in all parts of the country.”
De Taliban noemen hun offensief “Badar”, naar één van de grote overwinningen van de profeet Mohammed.
De opstandelingenbeweging heeft burgers geadviseerd uit de buurt te blijven van luchtmachtbases en andere legerbases, bijeenkomsten in de open lucht, militaire konvooien en Afghaanse civiele en militaire autoriteiten.
Verder waarschuwen ze weg te blijven van bedrijfsleiders van buitenlandse en plaatselijke bedrijven die “voor de vijand” werken.
Doelwit zijn, zoals gebruikelijk, opslagplaatsen voor munitie, buitenlandse troepen, Afghaanse veiligheidsdiensten, logistieke konvooien en mensen die samenwerken met de Afghaanse regering.
Waarnemers hadden al voor een lenteoffensief van de Taliban gewaarschuwd. Het is een elk jaar terugkerend patroon in de oorlog in Afghanistan.
Tijdens de winter houden de Taliban zich relatief rustig, trekken zich onder meer terug naar hun veilige havens in Pakistan, om dan vanaf het voorjaar weer actiever te worden.
Het Pentagon, het Amerikaanse ministerie van Defensie, meldde vrijdag dat de internationale coalitie vooruitgang heeft geboekt, maar dat er nog steeds een aantal moeilijkheden zijn, zoals een tekort aan militaire trainers en grenswachten.
Verder verlopen politieke ontwikkelingen in het land langzaam. Dat kan een gevaar vormen voor de vooruitgang die volgens het Pentagon de afgelopen zes maanden is geboekt.
Desalniettemin verklaarde het Pentagon ook dat het geweld het afgelopen half jaar in Afghanistan is toegenomen.
